My name is Christina Frei, I’m a children’s writer, live in Connecticut, and am the creator of a world for kids on the Internet. It’s called Dork Central: Join the Dork Revolution.
The main goal is for smart kids who might be a bit shy (or not) to have all kinds of goofy fun that draws out their smarts, creativity, and unique voice. Among many fun activities available for kids (9-13 year-olds) are Dork Secret Agent Assignments. These assignments provide kids hilarious activities in practically any environment, while calling on them to use their creative resources.
There are assignments for supermarkets, long car rides, malls, nights with boring babysitters, TV-free home adventures, and even school libraries and hallways. In other words, they’ll never have an excuse to be bored again! Plus, they get points for their participation and there are even contests where they can submit their work, and then be featured on the website if they win. A side benefit is that they’ll feel more confident in their lives at school and beyond, as they realize how cool it is to be different and dorky.
This is also an alternative to video games, movies, and even books, as it’s not mere “entertainment.” It’s a way for kids to build their creative muscle, and to show them how fun learning can be. Shy kids especially can remember they have their own unique perspective on life, and that just because they might not have 100 friends following them around, they are still amazing kids, and can change a situation just be choosing a new view of things. And furthermore, it shows kids how self-sufficient they can be. Some kids would think going to the bank is boring, but your kid will know otherwise (especially after doing the Secret Agent Bank Assignment), and they won’t expect MTV and Playstation to keep them occupied.
As Dork-in-Chief and creator of this website, I’d like to live in a place where more children rely on their own inner resources, which are infinite. Children with ideas bring a future with more options, more vitality, more intelligence, more inventions, more juice, more hope. And I’m just getting started!
To make this a safe environment, you are asked to register your child, sign a release, and verify the account. Each time your child changes their password, you will be notified. Here is our privacy policy too.
Looking forward to having your child on board.
Yours warmly,
Christina Frei
